Optometrist is an important personnel in the field of visual sciences, who can relieve the highly qualified eye surgeon’s pre- assessment-before surgery & post-assessment-after surgery. In India there are a large number of persons without without any specific training about the eye, they are prescribing & dispensing spectacles without expertise in a business like manner, which is illegal & it is a penal offence. The object of this course is to develop manpower, which could be utilized for the implementation of national programme of visual impairment & control of blindness, as well as to fulfill the need of human being and to Goverment services, Private Hospitals, Private Practitioner, Optical Shop to open factory of frames, lenses, Opthalmic materials, and also open an eye clinic in Collaboration with a ophthalmologist & work as assistant.
